I seem to have been inundated with octopus requests just lately and I don't mind one little bit. I love making these gorgeous, tactile little things and like thinking of new ways to make them all a little bit different.
They are made from 100% cotton so they meet the requirements to be able to go into hospitals. I find it quite comforting to know that they may be soothing a little new baby that's arrived a wee bit too soon, something that's quite close to my heart. Their little tiny hands squeeze the tentacles of the octopus and that apparently reminds them of the umbilical cord and it gives them comfort, calming them and making their heartbeat more regular as well as making them less likely to pull on any tubes or monitors. I have it on good authority that they are just as comforting to full term babies too!
